Welcome to the 'Study of the Constitution' initiative.

The Constitution of India is a living document based on the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for every citizen of our country. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar worked tirelessly day and night to draft this Constitution, completing it in 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days. It was presented to the nation on 26th November 1949, and came into effect on 26th January 1950. On this day, we Indians truly became a Republic. That is why this day is celebrated as Republic Day – the day of democracy, the day of the people.

Our Constitution continues to be the foundation of Indian democracy, both today and for the future. We strongly believe that every Indian citizen should study the Constitution — in fact, it is essential that they do so. This very Constitution safeguards each and every citizen. It binds us together through the thread of democracy. It grants us the right to seek justice. Every citizen of this country lives a free and independent life, not in bondage to anyone.

Though the country is divided into castes, the Constitution establishes equality over caste. It promotes fraternity among all. And this is not just an emotional idea — it is enforced through law. The Indian Constitution has granted us numerous rights and entitlements. If every citizen understands the Constitution, they will not only enhance their own lives but also contribute to the progress of the nation. With this in mind, we are launching a small initiative for all of you.

Why is it important to have knowledge of the Indian Constitution?

The Indian Constitution is not just a document, it is the soul of our nation. Therefore, it is essential for every Indian to acquaint themselves with it, study it, understand its importance, and act in accordance with it.

That is why we are launching an initiative with the objective that every individual in the country should read the Constitution, understand it, and apply it in their lives. To help understand the Indian Constitution more thoroughly, we are conducting practice sessions through a quiz and organizing an online exam. Let’s begin…!
